APSU Women's Tennis loses 5-2 to Eastern Illinois - Clarksville Online

Clarksville, TN – A pair of freshmen brought home the only singles wins for Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team against Eastern Illinois, Saturday, at the APSU Tennis Center.

The 5-2 loss dropped Austin Peay to 5-9 (2-3 OVC); Eastern Illinois improves to 8-2 (2-2 OVC), picking up its second straight Ohio Valley Conference win.

“Our freshmen played well today,” said head coach Ross Brown. “I’m hopeful that continues tomorrow.”

The freshmen were responsible for both Austin Peay victories on the day. At No. 5 singles, Hannah Tatlock defeated Hannah Kimbrough, 8-5, while Isabela Jovanovic knocked off Kamile Stadalninkaite at No. 6, 8-4.

The top four Lady Govs singles players were each swept in straight sets, while Austin Peay still seeks its first doubles point since March 1st, taking the loss for the third straight match, with two matches uncompleted.

“I feel like we were close in doubles,” Brown said. “We’ve got good pairing and I like what we’re doing, we just haven’t gotten the result.”

The Lady Govs return to action against SIU Edwardsville with a 1:00pm, Sunday start.
